Man I was so hyped up for the Global Link to finally open up from the very day Black and White came out here, but now I'm wondering what it was I was even excited for.

I'm probably in the minority that was more excited for Ranked Battles than the Dream World, but you have to forgive me as I'm a competitive battle nerd. The idea of checking out the website to see if you're the top percentage of awesome hooked me in, but the biggest attraction was that the ranking system would prevent the idea of ragequitting due to affecting their score. Turns out that Nintendo is still not capable of handling online properly, and there seems to be no punishment from leaving a match right before you lose at this point. So now I ask, what the hell is even the point of ranked matches? Not only are there way less people on ranked matches that aren't single battles (and I'm no fan of single battles), but the reality of the situation is that pretty much every match you're in is going to end up in a disconnection since it doesn't count as a loss on their part. If you're going to be a god damn ragequitter then play of free mode and don't waste my fucking time. I know online competitive play is inevitably going to have ragequitters, but you'd figure we would have already found a solution for this by 2011.

Oh well, at least I'm ranked number one in the United States (as of today) according the the main site. lololol

And there's there the Dream World. Wasn't preventing a similar server disaster the Japanese launch had... the whole reason Nintendo delayed the release for Dream World here in the first place(before the Earthquake)? So now you're telling me after all that, they still can't get their act together and half the community can't even log in to the damn thing? Really? I honestly wouldn't be that annoyed over it, but this is now just the fuel that is being added to the fire of ranked battle frustration. When Fennel says it may take five minutes or longer to complete the process, she really should have put a bit more emphasis on the or more part.

And I am done. My dear friends here should add me so I can stalk their Dream World process and stuff~

Kyoani is at it again.

Not only is the show a friggin' hilarious blend of Azumanga Daioh/Cromartie High School/Pani Poni Dash, but the song is sung by THE Hyadain. Don't know who he is, well you should educate yourself quick, because I think it's pretty awesome that he's now singing anime openings.

Everyone watch this show. Everyone love this show.

As I sit here playing through House of the Dead 2, I am reminded of how fucking terrible this game is of how much I miss being able to go to arcades.

Sure, being able to play these arcade games on consoles and whatnot is nice for various reasons, but it also just doesn't feel the same as being able to play through them in an arcade. The atmosphere is different, and the console controllers (plastic DDR pad/wiimote/etc.) just don't compare to the real tools. It was nice using your spare change to play through games, being able to watch other people play games, and going there to hang out with friends while potentially making new friends as well. I may overly sentimental, but damn do I miss arcades.

Being able to play DDR at the arcades was also like the only time I got exercise. I was easily able to get through three expert songs on DDR back in the day, but the few DDR machines I'm able to find these days have shown me that I can barely get through one expert song. The decline of arcades in America is going to be the cause of my death... you heard it here first!

Yesterday made me realize that April Fool's is probably the worst "holiday" ever. I'm a terribly gullible person and fall for any piece of news on the internet for at five seconds before realizing what day it is. There's usually one big "prank" that I fall for every year, and this year was the news that Square Enix bought out Gust Corporation. I was like HO SHIT when I read that headline, but granted this was before I even realized it was the first of April, so I overreacted quite a bit. At least I got a laugh about Square Enix making three Ar Tonelico games afterwards, but that was about it for April Fool pranks for the day.

And that transitions into me finally beating a game that isn't related to Pokemon in a way. I just finished Ar Tonelico 3, and it was easily the best in the series. Yes there will be people who look at the game funny because of the whole stripping mechanics of the female characters as if sexual innuendos weren't enough, but at GUST gets some brownie points for tying the stripping into the story and battle system? The guys also strip down to their undergarments too (which is hilarious), so at least they're being fair to both genders this time around (looking at ledgem ).

While the sereis isn't the greatest series ever, it's still quite an underappreciated series in my eyes, and this game is probably the one that left the biggest positive impression on me. The characters were all interesting, the story was compelling at times, and the music was top notch. The hymns are always good in the Ar Tonelico series, but this is the first game that had hymns good enough to be considered "ear worms". Favorites below, though there may be spoilers so be careful if you care?

EXEC_COSMOFLIPS/. Loved the song before the game came out here, but I wish it was used during a better scene in-game.
EXEC_Z/. Fell in love with this song when I heard it in-game. Used in one of the best scenes with the most build-up.
EXEC_CUTYPUMP/. (Theme of the obvious best character in the game).

I kind of want to replay the game again to get the other endings (got three endings involving spoilery characters), but I have like a million other games to catch up on already so effff. I can always watch the other endings on Youtube to save time, I suppose.

Also I am probably one of the very few people who played this game when there was another person in the room. No shame from me. I know the series definitely isn't for everyone, but who cares man I'm niche and I'm proud. Keep em comin', GUST.

For months and months, I had no intention of getting the Nintendo 3DS on launch day. The system itself was okay, but the launch games just weren't doing it for me, and a console is only as good as the games it can play. So ever since the launch lineup for the 3DS was revealed, I convinced myself that I didn't even care about the 3DS. In all honesty, I was pretty uncaring about the fact that the 3DS was going to be released today all throughout yesterday.

But then I still ended up getting a 3DS. I did my daily routine of checking out the forums in the morning, and the various comments of people who bought pretty much convinced me to get it right then and there. They didn't really motivate or excite me or anything, I just suddenly decided to might as well get it. It's pretty funny, considering this is the very first system that I've purchased on launch day, and I wasn't really even hyped about it until the day it finally came out. Funny how the world works sometimes.
It's inevitable that I'm going to get a 3DS someday, so I figured I might as well get it now when Gamestop was doing some trade-in deals. Just the fact that I was able to trade in my DSi with the busted shoulder button and save $75 on it already made it worthwhile. As for the 3DS, a few minutes of messing around with it has told me that it's okay. The 3D is pretty cool, but it kind of hurts my eyes if I stare too long, so I keep it off a majority of the time. Toys R' Us is having a deal on 3DS games right now, so I may buy two despite not really being interested in any of them.
Super Street Fighter and Monkey Ball, or maybe even some Rayman.
Also the analog stick is awesome. It's much better than the shitty PSP analog stick).

I woke up today to find out that the 2011 Pokemon Video Game Championships and Trading Card Game Championships have been cancelled in Japan

I'm not going to lie when I say I'm pretty bummed about this news. However... I'm not an idiot, and I know there are far more important things that Japan has to worry about right now than Pokemon. Granted, there's only a small chance that this would affect the Video Game Championships here in the United States and Europe, but that's not really the point. Even if the Championships were to move on without Japan this year, it just won't feel the same without Japan's participation. Being able to meet and interact with the Japanese Pokemon fans is one of the biggest reasons why the Video Game Championships are so awesome, and I find it hard to get all that motivated anymore knowing that half the competition won't even be participating.
Once again, I fully understand the situation that Japan is in right now, so I'd like to hope that you don't see this post as selfish or insensitive. I've donated as much as I could to various companies that are sending their sales to Japan, and that's all I really can do at this point. Life moves on, and I can't spend every waking minute worrying about Japan.
Think I need to take a break from Pokemon anyways, and now would be a pretty good time to do so. I got a huge backlog piling up thanks to Pokemon, and I need some time to play through those quality games that have come out (especially Ar Tonelico 3). If TPCi does announce that they will go on with the VGC this year, then that's when I'll probably jump back into the game out of excitement.

When a normal person turns 21, they usually celebrate it in a myriad of ways. Whether it be drinking until you're dead, or taking a road trip to Las Vegas, the celebration is usually done in a manner only an adult can do.

So where did I celebrate my 21st birthday?

Pictures are worth a thousand words.

All in all a pretty good birthday. Not much will change now that I'm 21 (I don't plan to drink and I've been gambling since who knows when), so it was just more of a normal day for me if anything.

More importantly, it was also ennie03's birthday yesterday, so happy birthday to her!

 *slowly peeks his head in*

Well glad to see that this place is still alive and kickin'.

The original plan was to post in this place a fresh and new me at the start of the new year; however, shit happens, life sucks, and things don't always go your way. I apologize to anyone who is actually still following me here, and to specific people like sira and ennie03 for abandonment issues and empty promises. Maybe it's just me being overdramatic (or maybe I'm the only one who knows what I'm talking about), but I hope to make it up to you all one way or another.
Well life has been troublesome since the new year started, but thankfully things began to look up (sort of) around the start of March. I was hoping to make my big return at that point, but then Pokemon Black&White happened, and I'm sure it's pretty obvious what happened after. There may be people who see that I update my Twitter on a daily basis (mainly because it was a lot more convenient for me back then), but there's no way I can ever turn my back on Livejournal forever. For one, this place is the one place I can go to and vent to no one in particular. Guilty pleasure, of sorts.
So I'm back, and hopefully I'm not lying this time around. Not much has been going on in my life now, which allowed me to enjoy the newest games in the Pokemon franchise to the fullest. Twas a wonderful generation, and Black&White easily fall into my second favorite generation. Everything felt new and exciting, the Pokemon were great, the story was surprisingly dark and intriguing, and the game evolved in all the right ways. I'm actually hoping they do release a Pokemon Grey sometime in the future, because I want any excuse to roam through Unova again.

The biggest thing that Black&White did for me though is rekindle my desire to roleplay again, strangely enough. One of the main reasons why I returned was because you'll never find an awesome place like roadtoviridian anywhere else on the internet besides here. It's sad that a lot of the original roleplayers have dropped and moved on, b ut it's an experience I'm hoping to go through again soon. I want to sign up immediately, but I want to make sure I can commit myself to the RP this time, so I don't abandon my fellow roleplayers out of the blue. Hopefully I'm actually still allowed to roleplay over there and whatnot.
And if I do end up getting back into RtV, then I'm probably going to go in as a new and fresh character. As much as I enjoyed playing Barry, it's probably best for me to try something different. Unfortunately, it seems like the one character I was interested in (Whitlea/Hilda) is on reserve, so now I'm at a loss of what to do. I can either wait and hope that the person doesn't go through with the application (jajaja), or I can apply as someone else (Bianca, perhaps?)
Oh, and it's nice to see you all again, whoever actually reads this.

A sample of the best soundtrack from easily the best anime this season. The cover is really rockin', and the song samples are really good, so I'll probably end up importing it when it's released. From the new samples, I'm really loving CHOCOLAT above all else; however, I'm also a big fan of this mysterious Corset Theme as well. Also eagerly anticipating the full version of Fly Away, Theme for Scanty & Knee Socks, and Fallen Angel feat. Aimee B.

This also makes me sad because it reminds me that I can't find my iPod.
